Brief History
Technical Training Institute, Khuruthang was established in June 2003 by bifurcating Royal Technical Institute (RTI), Phuntsholing with an objective to increase access to school leavers in getting skills needed for employment in the labor market. Plumbing, carpentry, masonry, general electrical and drafting (last batch) were the courses brought from RTI. In 2007 plumbing, carpentry and masonry were shifted to TTI-Serzhong while mechanical certificate courses was brought from RTI. In 2010 CBT Electrical course was piloted. In 2014, the institute received an Excellence Award (Gold) for QMS. In 2017, Mechanical (Fitting and welding) CBT course commenced. Later in the same year, the institute received an Excellence Award (Silver) for QMS.
The Institute is under the Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development under the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. The Institute has a total area of 4 Acres 45 decimals, Technical Training Institute-Khuruthang is under Punakha Dzongkhag, located adjacent to Punakha-Thimphu highway below Guru Lhakhang in Khuru thromde.
